Dr. Mike attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated in 1980 with a degree in biology. He then attended the PA College of Optometry where he graduated in 1984. He received the Skeffington Award for outstanding student in pediatric optometry and the Alumni Award for academic excellence.
Upon graduation, Dr. Mike started a solo practice in Altoona. In 1998, he merged his practice with Dr. Petrunak to create Mountain View Eye Associates. He is a past president of the local optometric society and has served on the state education committee.
Dr. Mike is passionate about providing eye care to the people of Haiti. He travels annually to Haiti on eye care mission trips. Related to that, he serves on the board of directors of VOSH-PA (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity). Locally, he is an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Duncansville and the Rotary Club of Hollidaysburg.
Dr. Mike is happily married to his wife Marcia, a nursing professor at Penn State, and the proud father of two adult daughters, Amanda (Dan) and Lindsay (Josh). The newest addition to his family is his grandson, Cooper.
Dr. Mike likes spending his free time traveling with his family, hunting with his father, and attending all Pittsburgh Sports.
He enjoys taking care of all patients, but has a special interest in Orthokeratology/myopia control, dry eye disease care and macular degeneration care.
