Dr. Rettig grew up in the Duncansville area and graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School in 2005. He attended Penn State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Biobehavioral Health and a minor in Biology in 2009.

He attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where he graduated in 2013. During his time there, Dr. Rettig completed 5 clinical externships all with honors. They included time at The Eye Institute and Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia as well as Laurel Eye Clinic and Nittany Eye Associates.

He is a member of the American Optometric Association, The Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and his local optometric society. Dr. Rettig carries a special interest in specialty contact lens fitting with a focus on scleral lenses, surgical co-management, dry eye disease, and diabetic eye disease

Currently, Dr. Rettig lives in Hollidaysburg with his wife Jamie (a veterinarian), their four children, Simon, Ellis, Emmeline, Penelope and their two dogs, one cat and two horses. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, board games, following Pittsburgh sports, movies, and disc golf.
